Spring is knocking at the door; the sun is showing signs of strength as the cold season is slowly packing.
Most people are happy to put the winter coats and boots in the closets, ready to welcome the outdoor friendly season.
But this is not valid for everyone as some struggle with seasonal allergies
Are you one of them?
Are you getting ready to watch the blooming trees only through the window?
Would you love to be able to walk under flowering trees and enjoy the fragrance of it?
I absolutely love laying on the grass surrounded by colorful flowers, listening to the birds and watching the different shaped clouds moving fast. It is beyond relaxing and it is also a technique used by the ones who want to live longer.
When have you done this last time?
Allergies are definitely an obstacle!
Sneezing – as everyone is looking at you wondering what virus you are hosting!
Irritated eyes – swelling, redness, watering, itching – forget about makeup for a couple months!
Congestion that makes you sound like you are in a cave!
Stuffy or runny nose – forcing you to breathe through your mouth which drastically reduces the quality of your sleep!
Headaches- where is the Tylenol, Advil or Ibuprofen?
Fatigue- forget about that night out with friends, maybe next time!
Chest tightness – definitely uncomfortable
Wheezing – oh really?!
Does this sound familiar?
So what do you do? Antihistamine – pills, shots, creams, eye drops, nasal sprays?
How does this work for you?
There is another way, a holistic approach looking at identifying the root cause of the allergy and taking appropriate steps to balance your body in order to eliminate or reduce symptoms.
What causes allergies?
A confused immune system – which will mistakenly trigger an allergic reaction to what is being identified as being an allergen.
Ways to address it:
Bees are helpful – Local Raw honey
Taking 1 tablespoon of local raw honey per day builds tolerance to the pollen that is so disrupting to your daily existence during spring time.
Raw honey contains bee pollen known to fight allergies, infections and boost immunity.
Western medicine uses allergy shots which involve exposure to increasing doses of an allergen by injection over several years. Same concept, different administration.
Neti Pot
Runny nose? Look no more, Neti pot are a natural remedy for allergies and other respiratory conditions because they help clear sinuses and remove congestion.
The mechanism is pretty simple, clear the nasal passage of irritants and allergens to clear congestions.
Do not use tap water or any water that has not been distilled. Water must be distilled and as clean as possible to avoid the risk of making matters worse.
Probiotics
This is my personal favorite.
The reality is that the flowers, grass and blooming trees have no fault when it comes to your allergies.
It is your immune system and gut who need attention, and this has its root cause in dietary selections made over the course of years or the exposure to environmental factors that affect your immunity.
Probiotics are good bacteria that under normal circumstances are found in the GI tract to help defend the host of unwanted allergens, viruses or infections.
As you probably know already, a strong and healthy immune system starts with a healthy gut.
But with so many probiotics on the market, which one is the best?
There are millions of bacteria in the gut belonging to different species and families, all with a different role in the body. Adding too much of the same may cause dysbiosis (an imbalance of bacteria in the microbiome). You want to get something that will benefit you.
